
If you didn’t notice the fervor over SOPA and PIPA over the past week you haven’t been paying attention. The vote on the Stop Online Piracy Act (SOPA) and the Protect Intellectual Property Act (PIPA) has been postponed indefinitely by Congress.
Congressman Lamar Smith (R-TX) who introduced SOPA had the following remark:
“It is clear that we need to revisit the approach on how best to address the problem of foreign thieves that steal and sell American inventions and products,” Smith said in a statement.
This is to the dismay of movie and television production companies that saw this is a savior and protection of their product(s). To much of the rest of the country this is a sigh of relief…for now.
